Hi. I am Katherine G. Pe, a.k.a Katz, a web developer based in Baguio City, Philippines.

Experience
I've been an open source enthusiast since 2003 and launched an ezine (Kuwaderno Youth Zine) at the age of seventeen, focusing on building a community of designers, developers, writers and people interested in the arts and technology in general.
In the past (2004 onwards), I have done freelance work (PHP, CMS Development, Ruby on Rails) for several people from different countries (Australia, London, United States, Singapore).
From 2008 to 2009, I worked as team lead and senior Drupal developer for a company based in Australia and Cebu City. I worked with a team of competent software engineers based in Cebu. I worked as an independent contractor (Ruby on Rails) for about a year for a company based in California, U.S.A. In fact I've been working for several startups in California (Palo Alto). Today (November 2010), I work as a technical lead and Ruby on Rails application developer for 33voices.com. It's been four years since I first used Ruby on Rails (2007) and I still continue building fun and profitable web applications using the framework.

Education
I am equally passionate about learning business and technology in general which is one of the reasons why I still opted to finish Business Administration (Major in Financial Management). I am a graduate of St. Louis University.

Changes
Over the years, I have developed a broad set of skills - design, programming in PHP, Ruby, Actionscript and other languages. I used to be a graphic designer. I have retired from doing such kind of work for people. It's just a matter of choice. Today, I focus on developing my programming skills.

Work on What Matters
Life is short. It is more important to evaluate your goals rather than to keep working on several projects that do not interest you at all.
